summer lovin // beach bonfire engagement session // coronado island
Let’s just take a minute to talk about how much I freaking love and appreciate California! It’s summer, pretty much all year long and beach days are always a good idea… unless it’s tourist season lol.
As a part of my wedding packages, I include a one hour creative engagement session. What does that mean? That means, I get creative with your cuteness lol I usually try to incorporate a theme or style or add in something unique to your couples’ style into your session. So when Rebecca and Chase hired me for their wedding (so stoked for this wedding BTW it’s gonna be EPIC) we decided to go super chill on their engagement. A beach bonfire sounded like the greatest idea.
Well, the Universe had different plans. I had completely forgot that it was summer. In San Diego, it’s always summer, but when its actually summertime, that means all the tourists are here on vacation and the beaches are JAM PACKED. So even though we did this engagement session ON A WEDNESDAY, all of the bonfire pits were taken. I almost cried. But there was no way in hell I was going to cancel this perfect engagement session due to minor details of not having a pit. I called everywhere and everyone asking if they had a pit, and alas, no luck. Until finally, it hit me.
The Hotel Del Coronado does this super cute thing in summertime where you can rent an entire smores station on the beach! They provide everything - chairs, the pit, the wood, the smores, and you can even order alcohol from the hotel! Epic freaking win!!! Also, the staff there is so incredibly sweet! The poor concierge saw the look of panic on my face and let me pick the best photo shot to set up my smores station. Then here comes Rebecca and Chase - so excited and just getting off of work, they were pleasantly surprised when they realized their engagement session was actually just a really cute date night on the beach. Smores, cuddled up by the fire, blankets, and the a perfect San Diego sunset. Friends, this is what Southern California is all about. This is why I renamed my brand - SoCal Standard.
